X - ATEX Rated for Potentially Explosive Dust Atmospheres

AirBench 'X' configurations are designed specifically for areas assessed as potentially containing explosive atmospheres under the ATEX directive (94/9/EC).

FP-X is based on our standard FP range, and is constructed from welded, formed steel panels, powder coated grey after fabrication

FP-X runs from a standard 3 phase 415V supply using an independently certified explosion protected fan and motor, and is available with local or remote starter/isolator.

AirBench FP-X uses high quality, independently certified components to provide a self-contained downdraught extraction system while protecting your employees from risks associated with the ignition of hazardous atmospheres. Models are available specified for potentially explosive gas or dust atmospheres.

See below for sizes and specifications. For detailed information on this range, contact WorkPoint.

About ATEX Rating

When present in the correct proportions, dust and gases mixed with air can create a potentially explosive atmosphere.

The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR) place duties on employers (and the self-employed, who are considered employers for the purposes of the Regulations) to assess and eliminate or reduce risks from dangerous substances.

Equipment for use in environments assessed as being potentially explosive is governed by Directive 94/9/EC (also known as ‘ATEX 95’ or ‘the ATEX Equipment Directive’) on the approximation of the laws of Members States concerning equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

An introduction to ATEX and DSEAR can be found at the following links to the HSE website:

Employers are responsible for making risk assessments under these regulations, and for correctly selecting equipment which is safe to use. We recommend completing these assessments with expert assistance.
