Wet Dust Extraction and Filtration for Flammable Dusts
Combustible and flammable dusts can often be captured using standard filtration systems but in some cases, dry filtration is not recommended.
Our range of wet dust extraction systems and wet downdraught benches extract flammable and explosive dusts safely.
Some dusts, including titanium and magnesium, are too reactive to be captured safely using dry filtration in most situations. Titanium is a major source of dust in aerospace applications. High risk, when worked it can produce sparks and the dust is flammable.
Mixed dusts can also introduce risks; for example, mixing aluminium and steel dusts can generate a thermite reaction. Thermite mixes can self-ignite. For these applications we specify wet collectors.
Wet collector filters use water and a self-induced scrubbing action to remove dusts from airstreams. Dust is removed as a sludge from the filtration unit and can be disposed of through your standard dust disposal supplier.
The AirBench WB is a self-contained downdraught bench with wet filtration system. Following extensive development and testing, this range is now in service capturing titanium dust at major manufacturers across the UK, reducing risk and keeping operators safe.

We offer two solutions for the wet filtration of flammable dusts: self-contained downdraught benches with wet dust extraction systems; and stand-alone wet collectors to connect to other systems.
