Precision Tooling Services (PTS), a precision engineering firm located at Prestwick Airport, have installed further AirBenches to resolve an issue with dust from a deburring process on mild steel. PTS installed their latest AirBench in December 2022, and report very high operator satisfaction with the new unit.
The operator in this section said
I’m delighted at being able to deburr components without the need for additional RPE. I’m very satisfied with the new AirBench.
AirBench worked closely with PTS to specify a suitable unit, and selected the AirBench FN type, complete with filters for light spark duties; a rubber mat was also fitted to ensure delicate parts are properly protected. AirBench ‘C’ type filters are selected specifically to handle dust from steel and similar materials, while heavier duty options are available for grinding where heavy sparks are created.
PTS’ sister company, Anderson Stewart Castings foundry also had units recently installed in their inspection room. This installation consisted of 3 benches, sub-divided into 5 workstations. The inspection process included fettling and polishing of automotive components. Previously operators were reliant on RPE and routine ATEX dust removal processes – and a huge Torit extraction unit. Anderson Stewart Castings highlighted a massive improvement to the cleanliness and occupational hygiene of the room with corresponding improved workplace exposure level results for dust and fumes.
The AirBench installation included a full Modrack lighting and storage system – see airbench.com/modrack for more information.
The workforce in the area are delighted with their new systems, saying:
The room is better organised, brighter and far cleaner…..and it’s great to not need to wear a mask when doing my usual tasks.
In the Inspection area, ASC opted for Airbench FPK models with integrated kneespace, which were installed in August 2022.
