AirBench client Proptech Aero Ltd has reported successful installation of 5 FN model downdraught benches. Proptech said….
Proptech Aero Ltd is a leading independent Propeller MRO for fixed-wing aircraft. We have 5 Airbenches in use in our workshop. 2 benches are used for the grind process of our aluminium propeller blades & the other 3 are used during the sanding process of our composite blades.
The composite sanding benches are used during the removal of paints, composites (fibreglass, carbon fibre & Kevlar) & various adhesives. The extraction is very good, which allows the use of these benches next to our composite lay-up area, which in turn means we spend less time moving parts around the shop.
The benches are quiet when in operation, which helps keep the ambient noise level down in the shop. Each of these benches are used for about 6 hours a day. We vacuum clean the top filters every week, change the top filters every month & replace the lower filters every 3 months.
If the filter pressure gauge goes above 200 Pa, the suction/vacuum drops off, which can allow for dust to not be extracted quick enough. So, we keep an eye on this & perform some quick maintenance to rectify the situation.
We’ve found having them on wheels is very handy because if we have a propeller that can’t be moved to our sanding areas, we can quickly move the bench to the propeller.
