In general our products are classified as Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems. This means that, under The Control of Substances hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH), they will require a statutory Thorough Examination and Test. This regulation applies to all dust and fume extraction systems and units must be designed and commissioned with this requirement in mind.
Test intervals are also specified in the Regulations and are summarised in the table below.
|Jute cloth manufacture||1 Month|
|Processes in which blasting is carried out in or incidental to the cleaning of metal castings, in connection with their manufacture||1 Month|
|Processes, other than wet processes, in which metal articles (other than of gold, platinum or iridium) are ground, abraded or polished using mechanical power, in any room for more than 12 hours in any week||6 Months|
|Processes giving off dust or fume in which nonferrous metal castings are produced||6 Months|
|All other processes||14 Months|
In practice, unless your process is one of the special cases listed, most users will opt for annual testing to ensure compliance with the 14 month interval.
We offer full LEV testing and servicing generally for our own products. We are also happy to offer LEV testing only for LEV systems from other manufacturers.
Contact us for a quotation. If you have an AirBench unit already, our automated system will generally remind you when approaching 12 months since commissioning, but if you’re not getting a reminder – let us know.
